Feb. 2, 2011 - Power!

Today we (and probably most of the country in this deep freeze) are having power outages and rolling blackouts. I am grateful for power to have heat and light and cooking food! As I went to BSF and we are in Isaiah 40:12 ff, we are talking about God being all powerful...like He can measure the waters in His hand that we can only see to the horizon. He can measure heaven from His thumb to His little finger! He holds dust of the earth in a basket! There is no one that is bigger than God. Of course we talked about there is no problem we have that the creator of the universe and creator of me can't tackle! God is incomparable in His Greatness, His Supremacy, His Power and in His Care of us.

Anne Graham Lotz' email devotional today was on God's Power as well- "His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue. (2 Peter 1:3) She further says - "God is bigger than we think and great than we think. Nothing is beyond His ability. All are within His power to "fix". He is more than able to sustain your marriage, your ministry, your faith and your finances, your hope and your health!"

So I'm grateful for electrical power (heat!!!), but I REALLY grateful for God - the All Powerful !

Feb. 1, 2011 - Laughter

Laughter - I'm so grateful for it! Imagine our days without it! I've just downloaded a bunch of pictures and this one just cracks me up!!! Just the memory of it makes me smile. Emma had been resting with her eye masque and thought Poppa just had to have one too! Of course Poppa HAD to comply! I hope you get some laughter out of it too!

Jan. 31, 2011 - Cameras!

I just saw a piece on tv about a man that is one of 3 in the country that still make the old tin-type cameras and pictures. Imagine the first person to have created this way to preserve our memories. I've just downloaded pictures and as I look at them, I'm grateful to have them to remember. I'm grateful that somebody created cameras along the way to remember our yesterdays and todays and tomorrows. Now even phones have cameras. I love pictures just taken along the way of our life. Sarah sent one of the ocean yesterday. Amy sent one of Emma in her new "airplane" houseshoes. Imagine what future pictures could look like!

Jan. 30, 2011 - Baptism

Today was an awesome day in worship. We had 2 baptisms - 1 was a teenager and 1 was a grandma! I knew the story of the "grandma" and how her decision to follow the Lord in baptism was one that she had "come a long way" to get there. It was such a victory. She was nervous. I went back to the area where they get ready to check on her. It just so happened that the normal helper for baptisms was not there, so I said I would stay back there to help. WHAT A BLESSING! We three prayed together. I was there to see her before and after the baptism. I was at the top of stairs watching her and we were both crying! Such a priviledge to share such a God-moment with both of them. I am so grateful to have been there. I'm so grateful for their decisions - both at different times in their lives, but still the decision to follow our Lord. What a day!

Jan. 29, 2011 - Birthdays!

Today we had Emma's 4th Birthday Party. Robby/Sarah and Abby came up for the big event, so we had the whole gang together . I remember one time someone was really down about their birthday because it was the big "one" - like 30 years old. Yeah, that's really the big one, huh? I've always been so grateful for birthdays - a day to be grateful you were born and you are alive for another year. Birthdays just make me smile and watching a bunch of 4 year olds run and jump and play sure made me smile and be grateful to be able to see their birthdays!

Jan. 28, 2011 - Helping Others

Most of you know that we've found a machine (using sound wave technology in the home) that helps with pain. Arlene is pain free these days. Since trying on her pain, I've been trying on other's pain. Mostly friends or family that would try it because they knew me and that I wouldn't be making this up! My neuropathy friend is pain free after 5 years of 24/7 pain. I cried. Today for the first time (because they knew my friend), a person I didn't know came to try the machine. She was in bad pain, she said and had been for over a year. We tried the machine on her pain. After the treatment, she was 100% pain free. She just kept saying she couldn't believe it and I have no idea how much she had been hurting and now was not! It was such an awesome feeling to know you were helping someone with their pain! I realized it is my desire to help others that makes me feel so good. I get just as excited as them! I'm grateful to our Lord, for placing the desire and the fulfillment of the desire to help others in us. It just makes you smile!

Jan. 27, 2011 - Bridge Out

I was headed to someone's house and decided to do a "shortcut"...just as I was turning down the road, there was a bunch of signs blocking the path. Bridge Out. Road Closed. No Through Traffic. Thankfully for me, there WAS another way to my friend's house. But as I was driving around the long way, I was so thankful that when it comes to the road to heaven/eternal life...this is a SURE way because Jesus IS the bridge that we travel over to get there! If not Jesus, there is no "other way" we can get there! Thank you Jesus!

Today's Daily Light - "You know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. Conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold . . .but with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you. "
